Tristar Resource Management played a pivotal role in the successful execution of the client’s innovative RF XL pilot project, delivering full-cycle engineering, well design, and field operations for horizontal producer and heater wells. Focused on enabling next generation enhanced oil recovery (EOR) in the McMurray Formation, Tristar engineered thermally robust wellbore architectures designed to operate under the demanding conditions of radio frequency heating. From directional drilling and geosteering to completions optimized for high-temperature performance, Tristar ensured every aspect of the project aligned with the unique technical requirements of RF energy deployment. The project was completed on schedule and without a single safety incident—demonstrating Tristar’s commitment to operational excellence and HSE leadership. The completed wells supported the successful startup of the RF XL system, with real-time down-hole data confirming that all engineering performance targets were met. Tristar’s contributions enabled the client to advance its low-emissions, water-free oil sands recovery technology and establish a strong foundation for future commercial-scale deployments.
